- How long can I keep the skip bin for?
- You can hire skip bins for a few days to one week, it’s a common hiring period. However, you can hire skip bins for a longer time as per the needs of your project.
- How far in advance do I need to book a skip bin?
- You will be required to give at least 24-48 hours notice to hire a skip bin, especially on weekends.
- What kinds of things cannot be put in the skip bin?
- You can not put unsafe materials like asbestos, paints, chemicals, oils, gas cylinders, batteries, fridges/TVs, wet cement or medical waste in skip bins.
- Do I have to be there for the skip bin's delivery and pickup?
- No, you don't need to be there as long as we have free access to your property where the bin has bin places. When you book a bin, you can give us the complete instructions and address of your property.
- Can I put the skip bin anywhere I like, or are there any restrictions?
- You can place a skip bin anywhere on your property. However, if you want your skip bin to be placed in a public property, then you will be required to obtain permission from the local council.
Prohibited items – Shoal Bay tip
- No asbestos or suspected asbestos (including fibro).
- No liquids, including paint, oils, or slurry.
- No hazardous or regulated waste, including chemicals, fuels, batteries, medical or biohazard waste.
- No gas bottles or other pressurised containers.
- No whitegoods containing refrigerants (e.g. fridges, freezers, air conditioners).
- No e-waste, including printers, photocopiers, televisions, monitors, desktops, or laptops.
- No wet concrete, hot ash, or burning materials.
- No tyres or mattresses unless declared and paid as an add-on at booking: mattresses and car tyres only, in a general waste load (separate charges apply). Larger tyres need a written quote.
- Soils (including clean fill) can only be accepted with prior Council approval and in accordance with the Land Use Contaminants Guidelines.
- All loads are assumed uncontaminated. Loads are inspected at Shoal Bay and may be reclassified. Contaminated loads will incur additional charges.
